Land Ho!

I finally have something to post about besides Andi getting into something she shouldn’t be :)

We bought some land!!

Maybe I should qualify that remark. Since we’ve returned to Aberdeen we have been trying to decide what we wanted to do for a permanent living situation. There aren’t many choices of houses around here. Either there is a tiny 2 bedroom house in town for $50,000, or there is a nice house that comes with 1000 acres for 1 million dollars. Since we have kids and want some room, but we don’t want to do any serious farming, neither of those situations will work very well for us.

So, we have been looking for 2 to 5 acres to build a house. We found 3 acres in a very nice place, and we have put down earnest money. We are so excited! We finally get to build our dream house. Here’s a picture of the house plan we picked out.

It will be awhile before we will actually be in it because we are going to build it as we can afford it instead of taking out a mortgage on the place. That way we save money by doing most of the work ourselves, and we can move in before it’s officially finished. Plus, the kids can help build the house and hopefully enjoy creating something we will be living in.
We are hoping to have Nathaniel in his room by the time he is 12 (in about 3 years).
