Final Destination

It's finally happened!!! After gypsying around the country for the last 10 years moving every .625 years (yes I did the actual calculation) and living in 6 different states, we have finally moved to our final destination. Our address will never change again (knock on wood).

The land officially became ours on August 20. Here's what it looked like when we started

Then, in the middle of september, we were able to find a single-wide mobile home to pull onto the land.

After having all sorts of machinery, tractors, trucks running all over our land for a couple of weeks, we had electricity, water, and a septic system hooked up to the place. It took us a little longer to actually get into the place, but on October 1st we were officially moved out of our rental and on to our land.

Here's what the land looks like now from the road (with the nice, grey October sky). It looks like we're really crowded over to the side, but we wanted to be out of the way for when we start building the stick-built house in the spring.

If you'll notice, there is a nice shed (behind the van) that Derek built to house our extra stuff until we get a garage. There is also a little building that looks like an outhouse that is actually a well house. Everything is still being worked on. It seems a neverending process at this point, but it is fun to have goals, and it is great to be in our own place again. The prospect of creating something out of nothing is exciting and daunting. We'll keep you posted on future developments.
